Music Software Plugins
At Cymatics, I spearheaded a multidisciplinary team of DSP engineers, developers, and artists in extending our brand's influence into the music production software domain. Since the inaugural release of our plugin Diablo in 2021, we've continued adding to our line of innovative software offerings and solidifying our reputation as a serious player in the digital music production landscape. Our plugins have each generated hundreds of thousands of downloads and millions of dollars in revenue, gaining critical acclaim and featuring prominently in the toolboxes of producers all over the world.
Memory
One of our most popular free plugins, Memory is a stereo chorus based on a precise software emulation of the iconic MN3007 bucket-brigade device (BBD) chip found in many vintage chorus and vibrato effects. Memory's pseudo-random pitch modulation and envelope-following filter work in harmony with simulated analog noise to recreate the nuanced, organic feel of analog tape. Watch it in action here.
Illusion
Building upon the foundations of Memory, Illusion is perhaps the best sounding and most accurate emulation of a BBD delay ever built in software. It is coupled to an innovative pitch sequencer which can create entire melodies out of the simplest sounds, and offers a suite of modulation options for true stereo chorus effects. The Character section offers a level of control over BBD-specific artifacts which is unique to Illusion. Watch it in action here.
Origin
Origin is a free plugin which allows for changing the sampling rate of incoming audio in real time. Typically, this process introduces significant aliasing artifacts which produces a "bit-crushed," lofi sound. While this may be desirable in its own right, Origin comes equipped with toggle-able anti-aliasing filters which remove those artifacts altogether. The result is a distinctly underwater texture made famous by Noah "40" Shabib. Origin combines this effect with a set of noise sources, tape-style wow and flutter, chorus and saturation modes to impart a unique vintage tone onto anything that passes through it.
Pluto
Pluto is Cymatics' multi-FX plugin. It comes loaded with several different modulation effects, granular and tape-style delay, hall and shimmer reverb modes, as well as adjustable vibrato. It's all seamlessly integrated into a streamlined, one-knob interface, making sophisticated sound manipulation accessible and intuitive for creators at any skill level. Watch it in action here.
Diablo
The one that started it all. Diablo is a comprehensive drum enhancer, distilling over a decade of audio-engineering experience into one easy-to-use plugin. It contains a transient shaper, drum-specific EQ boost profiles, compression, saturation, stereo width control, an innovative texture generator and two clipping modes. The "Lite" version of this plugin was released with only the Punch and Clip parameters and was our first free software offering.
Vortex
Vortex is a distortion effect building upon the vertical form-factor of Pluto, incorporating 4 distinct saturation modes tuned for 808s and other bass instruments. It offers powerful control over the harmonic character of the distortion in an easy-to-use interface.
Deja Vu
Deja Vu is our most popular free plugin to date. It is a pitch-shifting time manipulation device which recreates the sought-after "halftime" effect so ubiquitous in modern hip hop music, for free. Watch it in action here.
